Volkswagen Tops China Car Sales

VW Tops China Car SalesVW are now the biggest automotive manufacturer in the world’s biggest automotive market, quite a contrast to their US operations where they skirt around the middle of the pack.

Volkswagen were once much-loved in the US for their quality, but have since seriously fallen out of favor.

Over in the Middle Kingdom VW’s pull on the Chinese public is immense, the German auto-makers offer stretches from the cheapest $US12,000 hatch to the $US175,000 Phaeton übersedan.

And it seems that anything with a VW badge riveted to the front and back panels seems to simply drive out the showroom doors.

Volkswagen sold 3.27 million vehicles in China last year, it’s closest rival, GM, sold 3.16 million cars, now the race is on for VW to become the world’s biggest automotive manufacturer, but for them to achieve that result they will need to improve the way the US market views them :: Read the full article »»»»

When was the last time you put on lipstick?

If you answered - IN YOUR CAR - you’re not alone. According to UK insurance company Diamond 20 per cent of women apply makeup in the car.

It might seem harmless, in reality it's possibly be more deadly than chatting or texting on the phone. A recent study by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found touching up your lippy -  or heaven forbid, applying an entire face - can increase a driver’s crash risk by three times whereas talking on the phone upped the risk by just 1.3 times  :: Read the full article »»

Australian Communications and Media Authority Puts Sandilands Rant Under Investigation

Australian Communications and Media Authority Puts Sandilands Rant Under InvestigationIt might have taken an exodus of advertisers money to finally quiet Kyle Sandilands after what can only be described as a bipolar-rant. Sandilands’ November 2012 on-air rant against journalist Alison Stephenson didn’t get him permanently removed from any form of lens or microphone? It did cost  radio network Austero a pretty penny though!

On-air last November, Sandilands branded Ms Stephenson “a fat bitter thing”, a “fat slag” and a “little troll” after she wrote an article critical of his Seven Network TV show A Night With The Stars. Sandilands threatened to “hunt down” the news.com.au journalist.

The enormous mouth of the kiwi radio personality has churned out some rubbish in it’s time. Sandilands has been pulled from the air more than once in his lackluster radio career, after several absolutely shameful acts:  ”Magda Szubanski would lose more weight in a concentration camp” and then of course there was the moral high Sandilands reached when a 14 year old girl who he’d had hooked up to a lie detector revealed she was raped when she was 12. Will Apologetic Rant HALT The Kyle Sandilands Money ExodusIt seems the exodus of money has finally quietened Kyle Sandilands? The enormous mouth of the kiwi radio personality has churned out some rubbish in it’s time.

The Sandilands Money Exodus Continues

Kyle SandilandsIt seems even without Sandilands around the exodus of money hasn’t slowed? That beast that is Kyle Sandilands, may be on his summer break, but it hasn’t stopped advertisers from extending their boycott of his breakfast radio show. In a new blow to Southern Cross Austereo, at least 15 major brands have pledged to not advertise on any of Sandilands’s programs in 2012. Some of big brand names including Coles, Bunnings, Vodafone, McDonald’s, Ford and Blackmores said their boycott of the 2Day FM host would extend into next year. The Sandilands debacle started after a female journalist wrote a review of Seven’s Kyle and Jackie O television show which aired on November 21. The following morning Sandilands launched into an on-air attack of the News Ltd journalist.

A statement released by Coles on the Change.org website on Tuesday said: “Our very clear position in relation to the offensive and inappropriate comments made by Kyle Sandilands remains that we are not and will not advertise on programs hosted by him.” Ford’s statement read: “Ford won’t be advertising with the Kyle & Jackie O show or other Austereo programs with which Kyle is involved (such as the Top 40, for example) at all going forward. Our action to withdraw that advertising was permanent.” The Change.org site started a petition after Sandilands’s on-air rant, which has now garnered more than 26,500 signatures.

The Sandilands Advertiser Exodus Continues

It seems even an exodus of money won’t quiet Kyle Sandilands? The enormous mouth of the kiwi radio personality has churned out some rubbish in it’s time. Sandilands was pulled from the air more than once in 2009 after one bad taste stunt turned into several absolutely shameful acts:  “Magda Szubanski would lose more weight in a concentration camp” and then of course there was the moral high Sandilands reached when a 14 year old girl who he’d had hooked up to a lie detector revealed she was raped when she was 12. Sandilands’ latest on-air rant against journalist Alison Stephenson will not likely get him permanently removed from any form of lens or microphone? It will cost Austero a pretty penny though!

On-air, Sandilands branded Ms Stephenson “a fat bitter thing”, a “fat slag” and a “little troll” after she wrote an article critical of his Seven Network TV show A Night With The Stars. Sandilands threatened to “hunt down” the news.com.au journalist.

While it’s little surprise that more high-profile companies are pulling advertising dollars from the Austereo network’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, it will however be a major surprise if Austereo’s lackluster management does much more than it’s usual 2 week suspension of the tiresome Sandilands. Having someone with moral fortitude or talent  has never been a focus for Austereo, a shock jock without a thought, seems to be the future of inane radio.

Even as the dollars exodus continues, it’s unlikely we’ll ever be rid of the ranting Sandilands, the math is pretty simple, his shock sells! READ MORE
