Canadian Cow - Smurf - Pumps Out 1 Million Glasses of MilkA Canadian cow named Smurf has set a new world record for the most milk produced in a lifetime – a whopping 216,891 kilograms over 15 years.

“That’s the equivalent of more than 1 million glasses of milk,” Smurf’s owner Eric Patenaude, a sixth generation dairy farmer, said.

Guinness World Records has confirmed the record, which belonged to a cow in the US state of Michigan. The average dairy cow yields about 35,000kg/33,981 litres of milk in a lifetime, around 50 litres per day.

Smurf, a Holstein cow who lives on a farm near Vancouver, produces about the same daily amount but has lived three times longer than most dairy cows and is still producing milk :: Read the full article »»»»
